Techie stuff about this page

Hi. You may wonder why there is a tech stuff about this page. After all, this page is about an anime, not about computers!

Well, I am in the IT business, so there are issues I am really picky, specially, when it comes to computers and such; hence, the reason why I included this. I know it will be useless for almost all of you, but, if you have any question on why things doesn't show up right on this page, most likely the answer is here (I hope).

Q: What browsers has this page been tested on?
A: I have tested in on the following browsers: Netscape Communicator 4.78 & 4.79 (in Windows 2000, Windows XP and Linux running KDE), Netscape 6.0, Netscape 6.1, Netscape 6.2.1 (under Windows 2000, Windows XP and Linux running KDE), Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, Galeon 1.2.0, Konqueror 3.0.0-12, links and Lynx.

Q: Is there any additional requirement?
A: No. However, since I am using a bit of Cascade Style Sheet, in Netscape Communicator, for some odd reason, you must have JavaScript on.

Q: Any weird behavior you are aware of?
A: In Netscape 6.01, sometimes the table background does not show up right, unless you reload the page. It is most obvious on the character page. Also, in Netscape 6.01, there is a weird behavior with transparent GIFs not showing correctly. But, if you do find an error or odd, behavior, please tell me!

Q: Any specific resolution?
A: 800x600. The page is set up for 800 pixels width. If won't give you any additional benefit if you are using a higher resolution. Sorry for those who are using 640x480 resolution...

Q: How about the color depth?
A: At least 16 bits (65536 colors).

Q: Which HTML editor you used to make the page?
A: Huh? HMTL editor? C'mon! You can use a plain text editor! (IMO, this art is being lost to HTML editors...) I use vi and Notepad+.

Q: What programs you used to make the graphics?
A: I didn't make the graphics, per se. I took them from several pages across the Internet (check the links page) and modified them with the following programs: Adobe Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop Pro and the GIMP. I also used those programs to make the captions and other graphic elements.

Q: Can I use some of your HTML code/content/graphics?
A: As for the HTML code, you can check it, and modify it as you please. Since I looked at other people's code to make this page, so I don't see why you can't do the same with my code. As long as you don't make a blatant rip-off, everything is fine with me. As for the content, just give the credit where it is due. I took the graphics from other sites I found and modified it whenever necessary. Since there is an owner of the original graphic, you must give him/her the credit for it.

Q: Your philosophy on HTML coding?
A: Before answering, raise your hands those who have used a 2400 bps modem. Hmmm... I don't see that many hands... Right now, I am a 56K-modem connection Internet user. I am concious that people with even slower connection speed are out there. With that in mind I try to make the pages as light-weight as possible. On average, a page, even with graphic content, should be less than 100Kb. Even with a 28.8Kb connection, you should be able to download the page in less than a minute, specially considering that many elements are reused. So, my philosophy would be, as light as possible...

Q: How did you capture the images from the DVDs?
A: I have a DVD-ROM instead of a DVD player. I have reasons of my own, so let's not start a war on this issue, OK? ^_^ Back to the topic, I used Cyberlink PowerDVD to play on my computer, and it has a capture feature.
