Given the length of both, OVA and TV Serie, it is obvious there will be differences. (For the main character, please check Tooru vs. Tsuyoshi). Also, we should note when was each one released: The OVA was released circa 1998, the TV Serie by 1999. This one year difference made some characters look different. Take for instance, Mizuho. She seems a bit more mature (drawing-wise) in the TV Series, compared to the OVA. This applies, too, to almost all characters. Don't get me wrong, they all are great looking, although I still prefer the TV Serie.

Minor differences exists in the setting, too. In the OVA, Miko is in the same classroom as Mizuho, however this does not apply in the TV Serie. In fact, they are all in 3-B in the OVA, opposed to 3-C in the TV Serie. (Miko is in 3-B). Also, as noted in Mahoko's character description, Katorea Flower Shop is not beside Dogeza Cafe.

Time-wise, the OVA spans for about 3 months period. It begins in mid summer, and ends by November. (Notice the uniform change in OVA 3). The TV Serie spans for almost a year. Episode one set in April, and episode 13 is just after New Year. Of course, we does not take in account, the ending of the TV Serie, nor the bangaihen - the side story.

Needless to say, the TV Serie focused on more characters than the OVA. However, even then, a couple of characters were just mentioned. For instance, Minagawa Nana. She has a couple of lines in OVA, but only appears in one episode (the side story, to be more specific) in the TV Serie. (I should mention that it is because of her storyline in the game, hers is totally separate from the rest) Midoritani Maki, does not appear at all (not even in the intro) in the OVA; she appear in a short scene of the side story.

Which one is better, then? It is not a question of whether which is better. They complement one to the other, as it gives you a differente perspective. Which one do I like more? Well, given that, my favorite character is Mochida Mahoko, I will go for the TV Serie... However, don't get only the TV Serie because of what I wrote. If you can, get both. You won't regret it.
